Dear Parents,
Welcome to 3rd Grade! We are very pleased to welcome your child to third grade. The children are working hard, and we are looking forward to a wonderful year, full of new learning experiences.
Essential to your child’s progress in school is your support and involvement. Therefore, we would like to briefly share with you the academic expectations and behavior standards for the new school year.
There will be a weekly folder sent home on Fridays with your child’s work. Attached to the folder will be a sheet for a parent signature. It is important that you go over the work in the folder with your child, but you need not return the corrected sheets. The folder is to be returned to school on the following Monday.
There will be homework assigned Monday through Thursday. Throughout the week each child is expected to read books and practice math facts. We believe the best method for continuing progress in reading is to read. For this reason, we feel it is very important that you read with your child every evening.
The students will be expected to follow a set of classroom rules. The rules were agreed upon by the teachers and faculty during the first week of school. Consequences will be enforced if a student chooses to break a rule. Rewards also are given to the students when they follow the rules.
Should you have any questions or concerns about the classroom standards or any future development, please send a note or email me at any time.
We are looking forward to the new school year. We will keep you informed about your child’s progress. With your help and support we can make this school year a good learning experience for your child.
Sincerely,
Ms. Smith
